What is NEET-UG?

NEET UG, known as National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test, is a standard and uniform entrance test for admission to various Medical Courses like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, and BHMS.

NEET (UG) examination is conducted annually by the NTA. NEET (UG) is shown in 3,842 Test Centres and 155 places across India and Overseas. The examination is conducted in the Offline Mode. And the exam is held in11 different languages.

 

Eligibility Criteria for NEET (UG) 

The eligibility criteria for NEET include:

  • Students should be of age 17. The conditional maximum age limit for students belonging to the general category is 25 years. Students from SC, ST, OBC, and PWD are offered a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit.
  • Candidates appearing for NEET should be Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO), and Foreign Nationals.
  • Candidates who have completed or are appearing 10+2 or equivalent can appear.
  • Students who want to apply for the NEET exam should study Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, and English.
  • Candidates sitting for the exam must secure at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology combined in the 10+2 qualifying exam. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC-NCL category candidates require a minimum of 40%.

 

NEET UG Syllabus

NTA sets the syllabus for NEET (UG) examination. It comprises Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. 

Some more details are mentioned below:

  • The question paper will bear 720 maximum marks.
  • Each question will contain four marks. 
  • This examination will have negative marking; one mark will be deducted for each incorrect response.
  • Cut off for the General Category of candidates is 50th percentile, for the General-PH category of candidates is 45th percentile, for SC/ST/OBC Category of candidates is 40th percentile.

 

How to Apply for NEET 

  1. Visit the official website, ntaneet.nic.inand register.
  2. Fill in all the mandatory fields.
  3. After scanning them properly, upload all the essential documents.
  4. To complete, pay the NEET application fees.
  5. The application fee for the General 1500₹, EWS and OBC category is Rs.1400/- and for SC/ST/PWD category is Rs.800/-. 
  6. students from Outside of India need to pay 7500₹
  7. Take a printout of the Confirmation Page and keep it for future reference.
